    sweet!

now lets get ready for the barrage of people saying .mac is a ripoff, etc.

Has anyone had a close look at the main picture on Apple's preview page? The sender of the email in the top pane is 'Katie Lorenzo' but in the preview pane her name is 'Amy Lorenzo'. Also, the delivery time is out by almost an hour.

    Comments?
maybe this means merom MBP's tomorrow? ;)

    Contract Termination By Fraud
A contract can be terminated by what is referred to as "fraud in the inducement." Fraud in the inducement occurs where a party intentionally misleads the other party into entering the contract. For example, a party lies about the subject of the contract and the other party relies upon the statement and agrees to the contract. This misleading action can terminate the contract.

Nah, it's probably just a mistake on apple's part (after all, i don't think this website has been officially released yet since we can't find links to it). I say that it is not photoshopped because i'm currently logged into .mac through the cited webpage. So yeah, it's real, otherwise i wouldn't be logged into .mac at the top.

Nice idea, but you can't really read the text. It's probably clear to most people what you're doing, but the font and size of the "Mac Rumors" isn't clear enough.

I see TJ Maxx's acquisition of some iPads as a marketing scheme. If a few select stores have at least 5 to offer at a discounted price, imagine what kind of results they would get if they offered them as a Black Friday Doorbuster Special. They would probably get hundreds lined up at the door like Best Buy does for a deeply discounted HDTV or laptop. As for a warranty, I don't think they offer warranties on any of their products because they are a clearing house.

True. There's nothing wrong with that. SJ should be happy for selling 80 iPads in one transaction.

The buyer is free to give them away or sell them for less.

I agree with most comments, the claims by Samsung seem a stretch. I live in Korea and the Koreans are very loyal to local suppliers and Samsung is not happy with how successful the iPhone is in Korea. Even the local prefer the iPhone over the Samsung phones in Korea. After living here a few years I will never buy Korean products again. They are great at copying, and keeping it all within the country even if it increases cost. I hope Apple succeed in finding other suppliers but I think so many companies have helped Samsung get to big and dominant so it will be hard to find memory and cpu suppliers other than Samsung.

I have used Samsung phones in Korea, they are not great - My Nokia was way better than every Samsung phone I ever had. Samsung phones JUST work, they do not perform. My new iPhone looks better, performs (speed and application wise) better than the Samsung phones I have owned but it drops more calls. Here's an example of how much Koreans refuse to accept Apple, You cannot use a Mac in Korea and do internet shopping or banking. Every website requires a special active X control that only works in IE.

Even in Korea the locals know Samsung copied Apple, when you go to electronics markets the sales people try sell Samsung products saying its "just like Apple iPad/iPhone/iPod and its Korean made so its better"

I really hope Samsung get burnt on this one.

    Hi All,

First off I am new here, so Hi again

I have a small problem getting Microsoft Outlook 2001 to use my 2003 Exchange server. I have to admit I am new to macs and am finding it a little hard to do anything but I am trying.

From what I can tell is that for some reason my the mac will not resolve the server name to an ip address. I mean when I look in the Outlook settings, under services --> properties if I place the servers IP address there and then the user name and then 'check the name' it resolves the name of the server and under lines the user name (which as far as I am concerned has worked).

Yet when I then launch Outlook I get a message saying folders could not be opened. The attempt to log on to the server failed..... Microdoft Outlook could not be started. The attempt to log on to the MS Exchange Server failed....................

What I have done so far:-
Updated the /etc/hosts file and added the ip address for the server (can ping both IP and name from the console and network util)
When in Outlook settings --> properties and user the server name instead of the IP address and try and check name I get an error.. The name could not be resolved. Network problems are preventing connection to the MS Exchange Server, Contact your system adminsitrator (me).

Sorry for the long post but this is a real problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Ian

PS The only thing I can sort of think of at the moment is that Outlook starts I think in classic mode??? I am not sure if this starts a new shell and therefore ignores the /etc/hosts file and that is the reason why it can not resolve the server name. If I am right my next question would be where is the hosts file for the classic enviroment??

Well, I use Backgrounder to keep my music player going (I use EQu). I assume it will work with iPod as well the way you want, but I can't say 100%. Free on Cydia, so certainly worth a try to see if it works for you.

I can't see apple employees driving around remapping the world to get their own data base

No need. Apple would just license the map data from either Navteq or Tele Atlas. The map data that Google uses at present is TeleAtlas (Especially for Europe).

I would restore it, jailbreak with greenpoison, download the firmware you are using from http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ to use in redsnow and just install cydia only.

I'm opening like 7 tabs in Safari (2 of which are youtubes) and others are regular text-based pages. I also open iTunes with music on and MSN messenger. My Spec is below (MacBook Pro). Why is safari runs extremely slow and used up 1GB+ of Ram? I wouldn't have expected 4GB of Ram to run out this quickly.

anyone knows the solutions? thanks :D

Try telling the boomers that their ss contributions weren't for them but for their now deceased parents to live off of and that there is nothing left for them. Not a vote winner. Healthcare reform is the only way. Other nations achieve much better results in both healthcare and education with less money. Unfortunately there is also a lot of debt to be paid back which will be expensive when rates rise. More pain to come. Raise taxes and cut spending.

According to data on your first chart I'd say that corporate income tax revenues need to increase dramatically. Corporate income taxes only represent 9%(191 billion) of revenue yet individual income tax represents 41% (899 billion). Combine that with all the bailouts the government handed out to the banks and some corporations and I'm guessing the net rate might be close to 0%.

I'm not saying individual taxpayers won't have to sacrifice in order to solve the problem, but I'm not sure why there are those that argue that no matter how many tax breaks corporations get or even government bailouts---that's its always the individual who has to pay.

It's a policy based on greed straight from the richest people and companies in this country.

Higher taxes result in more revenue and increases in economic activity and job creation.

I say we raise taxes, make them more progressive and at the same time, look at government spending and make reasonable and smart decisions about what and where to cut. Step one is to make sure everyone at that table can pass the one question test. "Where was the President born." Anyone who fails that test should be fired, but at a minimum, barred from participation in any meaningful discussions.

It's amazing just how few (3 so far that I can count) SERIOUS and thoughtful replies to this thread there have been. It almost seems that without personal attacks or social distress we have nothing to talk about... even when faced with the amazingly detrimental economic situation described in the OP. Truly fascinating. Seems more true to me than ever that most on the left either A) fail to recognize the depth and seriousness of the problem at hand, B) don't care or aren't willing to make the necessary cuts to maintain economic sanity, C) are too busy playing petty politics (the blame game) worrying about who caused the problem instead of who's going to fix it. It seems that unless the threads directly pit right vs. left, no one cares enough to engage intellectually and make progress towards a solution. Anyway, thanks to the posters above who actually contributed... I may not agree with your suggestions, but at least your in the arena.

Further evidence that new hardware will not be released this summer. Why go through the trouble of firing up production of this phone just to shut it down in a month if not less than a month to start production of a new phone?

Heh, cool, and as with other similar storage technologies, a disc will take 123087012863018 hours to write and blank media will cost $120370860861 each for about the next 10 years. Still, cool!!!! nonetheless.

No light sounds like it isn't getting any power. Are you sure it is plugged in to the power at the wall?

Have you tried another cable or USB port?

Does it make any noise at all? Can you hear the drive spinning up, or is there any clicking noise, etc?
