I..sort of have turned philosophical abt the whole process. Having said that, I also see bright flashes off and on...(just kiddin'). I talk optimism, walk optimism, eat optimism, sleep optimism :) ..ends here!.
If all that it takes is - a copy of our presentation to be mailed/emailed to this 'super cop' of a minister or his office, I would still do it. That way, I have at least challenged him..

In my case, company is paying for me alone. I have to pay attorney fee and filing fee for my wife.
This varies from company to company. Mine, company pays all attorney fees. I have to pay for EAD and Advance Parole USCIS fees. Their argument is valid, they say that they pay for GC process. EAD and AP are not required as they are paying for my H1. Still they pay attorney charges for EAD and AP.

Hi ,
My wife's name was wrong in the EAD card we got recently , my attorney doesnt want to fix this , we called USCIS and they have asked to sent a new 765 along with old form having the name right ( jus to proove its not our fault ) and the EAD card . Should we send the supporting documents any similar experiences ??

This is normal. Preliminary processing means all documents are there and looks good. It doesnt mean it is complete. My wifes appln has been moved to MO with same message and I am the primary applicant. I got a mail yesterday saying my appln has been moved to a local office for interview.
So the above means nothing but it looks good.

irrational - Sorry to say this is little bit unlucky case. This happened to me also. My case got transferred to VSC from TSC in July 2009 and from then it is sitting there with no progress. Taken info pass but no use. (Yet to think about the next steps!).
I applied for EAD and AP in Aug last week and got the approved copies in Sep second week. I sent the application to TSC.
mmanurker - Can you please tell me how long your application was present in VSC? Also did you do anything to move it back to TSC or NSC.

Since you have completed the important formalities for two.
Police compliant & applying for replacement cards. You are good.
If you need to travel outside USA, you can get your passport stamped stating that you have a GC. That should your travel needs. Now a days, replacement cards are very fast. You should be able to get them in 3 months period. Do not try to give false information to USCIS (Some one suggested you in this group)

1 : yes you have to file form I-539. Attach copies of her I-94, your I-94, your I-797 and her last two paychecks. Make sure you file this form before her final day at work.
2 : It will not be against the quota. She can apply for an H1B anytime she wants and can start working once the H1B gets approved.

How do we know if our case is pre-adjudicated or nor, is it only a guess based on PD, that a case may pre-adjudicated.
Today, I called uscis, and asked if my case is pre-adjudicated or not. I was told that the rep does not have access to my personal info.
PD - July 2004-EB2

This effort tries to eliminate unused visas and utilize most of it. So the way I see it is, USCIS pre-adjudicates cases, then those who are "pre-approve" will be sorted on a different place maybe database which will be submitted to the Visa Center. Now, once your PD comes (Visa Center is the one responsible for monthly Visa Bulletin), Visa Center will tell USCIS that this case is ok, USCIS then sends you your GC.
